Service

As followers of Christ, we are called to serve. Side By Side Baltimore feels a call to service in our communities, in our city, in the United States, and across the globe. In the past, members of our group have collaborated to support the following people and organization(s):

Matthew and Maggie Loftus
(http://matthewandmaggie.org)

Matthew and Maggie live in Yei, South Sudan, where they work at His House of Hope Hospital, a ministry of Harvesters Reaching the Nations. They lived in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood of Baltimore for six years, where they are still members of New Song Community Church.

Matthew is a family doctor who likes to write. Maggies is a mother-baby nurse who likes to take pictures. And they have a three-year-old daughter Naomi and an infant son Leo. Their whole family and their colleagues use their skills at His House of Hope Hospital alongside the local church as they practice in the hospital, teach and disciple local health workers, and develop community health initiatives to reduce maternal and infant mortality.

Ways to Serve
You can sign up to receive their regular email with more details of their work, prayer requests, and pictures through their website. You can also choose to support them financially in their ministry in South Sudan through following the appropriate links on their ministry website.

The Johns Hopkins Children's House
The Children’s House at Johns Hopkins is part of the hospital housing program of the Believe In Tomorrow National Children’s Foundation. This facility offers affordable housing for families of pediatric patients who visit the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. It is our purpose to keep families together in the midst of medical crisis, to reduce stress and promote self-help and mutual support. Young people who receive medical treatment away from home need the emotional support of their families. Those families need a “home-away-from-home,” where they can restore their own physical and emotional energies.

Messiah Project Nicaragua

Messiah Project-Nicaragua

Messiah Project-Nicaragua is an international outreach of Messiah Project, U.S.A. Our mission is to reflect the love of God to the people of the Central American country of Nicaragua. A non-denominational Christian Missionary organization, Messiah Project Nicaragua works in a balanced way to bring relief from physical suffering along with spiritual truth and direction in Jesus Christ to those who have no hope.

As an indigenous ministry, we have many faithful Nicaraguan staff and volunteers laboring daily in different ministry outreaches within Nicaragua. We work side by side with our Nicaraguan brothers and sisters, training and equipping them to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to share the love of God with all they meet. In doing so, we seek to move from addition to multiplication in helping build the Kingdom of God.
Messiah Project-Nicaragua is a registered and licensed Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with the Nicaraguan Government. This provides us with a broad range of ministry opportunities throughout the country need the emotional support of their families. Those families need a “home-away-from-home,” where they can restore their own physical and emotional energies.

Ways to Serve
Through a personal connection with one of the missionaries we have donated plastic bowls and over the counter medicines for children.
